Damask Cardinal

I'm experimenting with something a little different here. I really like the damask pattern's on wallpaper's and fabrics and I've been trying to think of a way to combine them with my art. I thought it might be cool to try and use it as a background for a bird or flower or both! So I found a pattern that wasn't too busy and distressed it a little and also randomly added some goldleaf. When I was satisfied with that part, I decided to add a cardinal and flower's. I'm pretty far along at this point and will continue painting the rest of the blossoms.
