Sorry, I know it's been quite a while since I've posted anything. This portrait is part of a group show I'm a part of at the Allan Nederpelt Gallery in Greenpoint Brooklyn. It comes from some visits to the Bronx Zoo where I got to study this cat and his brother and sister up close. They're just about my favorite of the big cats. I enjoyed painting the background and foreground as much as the cub. Something has caught his attention, I had to fight the urge to add a butterfly or something else, I felt it would be too cutesy then. They're already too cute but even this young they can be so regal looking.

Beautiful work as always John, I like it that it's realistic yet has a painterly quality.
John, this is amazing!
This is really great John. Your right up there with the best of them.
Though it's a long, long time . . . from May to December . . . and the days grow short . . . when you reach September . . . Ah, so nice to see you back here! Oh, and the tiger cub is just terrific. So, that's what you have been working on for the last seven months? :)
Impeccable artistic talent. Your attention to detail shows.
Thank you all for the positive feedback I really appreciate your comments.
I've just stumbled across your blog John. Your work is absolutely stunning - I love this tiger cub particularly.
Look forward to seeing lots more!
Very realistic, your animals are not only well portrayed but are also in surroundings that are natural and wild.Great Quality.
Johnny, this painting is incredible. Sorry I haven't visited in a while. It's good to see some of your work again. Hope we can see you again!

Great to see some new artwork from you again! This one is beautifully done too. And I like that you resisted adding anything distracting keeping one focussed on the tiger cub.
Maybe cubs are not supposed to be pet for our kids, this is dangerous for them.
