Guardian Kestrel (detail)

Okay, so I got tired of looking at the kestrel half painted and decided to finish him off, I'd been really looking forward to painting him anyway. The patterns on the plumage the color and the shape of the bird are all very appealing to me so I really enjoyed it. A falconer friend provided the bird which was a real treat because I got to spend a lot of time with him up close.

Also, there are 3 thing's a little different about this piece for me:

1. It's much larger than usual 48x36.
2. It's on canvas instead of masonite.
3. I'm combining acrylic and oil.

Now, back to the brick and limestone.

Glad to see you back, painting and posting. I am also glad to hear that your 'time off' served a very positive and good purpose in getting your dad back on his feet.

This is going to be a stunning work and a beautiful composition worthy of a Birds in Art submission in my estimation.
