Single Fare

I recently participated in a show in Brooklyn called Single Fare where a bunch of artist's from all over New York City created images on MetroCards. I found out about it the day before the art was due, so it was quite a rush job. I painted this lion ( I know....... another lion? ) it's roughly the size of a credit card. The show was a big success with 100's of cards being sold. I would like to thank artist's and Michael Kagan for hosting this cool event.

Neat idea John! Wish I'd known about this in time, although I was away for several family graduations, so probably couldn't have met the deadline anyway. Your lion came out great! Very impressive. :-)

I just got back from NYC last week and brought a couple of these home. We learned to ride the subway on this trip and took it everywhere! Cool idea to paint on them.
I posted a video of our horseback ride through Central Park on the blog if you are interested.
Keep up the good work, John.

Wow. The lion on the metrocard is brilliant! It is a great idea, working that small. I am a painter making these big paintings and I used to ask myself can what you are trying to say be said smaller? How to justify the scale. The answer of course is yes but I've accepted that we make the paintings we wish to make large or small. The thing is to just paint. You are great!
