The silver fox is a melanistic form of the red fox and just as beautiful in my opinion. I got to study this guy up close at my friend Dan Bacon's Lakota Wolf Preserve in New Jersey. They also have Tundra, Timber and Arctic wolves along with a few bobcats.
I've spent the last few months off and on, tackling the underside of that dreaded arch. It was challenging for me to stay focused but I feel like I've learned from it. I kept thinking of the original sculptors who poured their hearts and souls into this building and that made it easier for me to keep going. I'd like to continue using architecture in future painting's.
Nothing about this part of the painting was easy. The patterns repeated over and over and then they were all different, but I was starting to see the finish line.
