Tawny Study

Tawny eagles are found throughout Africa but my real inspiration for this study was actually the backround. I liked the contrast between the fallen tree and dried grasses, it reminded me a bit of Yellowstone Park which is one of my favorite places.

Small update here. Due to a recent death in the family I've had to put my work aside for a while so I'm trying to get back on the saddle.

I'm enjoying working on this woodcock. I find his plumage very interesting. It has some very subtle cryptic markings that were challenging to paint. I still haven't completely made up my mind about the foreground.
